American, Spanish students complete ad PBL

Alternative Education students of Odessa, TX and their learning partners from Murcia, Spain completed last week a Project-Based Learning (PBL) activity called, Judging Advertisements. American students acted as officers of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), while Spanish students acted as investors wanting to export local products to the US. Because of their expertise in regulating communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable, American students as FCC officers were asked to judge the suitability of the print ads from Spain to be advertised in the US by analyzing the ads. Spanish students provided local print ads, and American students analyzed them using OPTIC (Overview, Parts, Title, Interrelationship, and Conclusion) strategy. Alternative Education students presented their analyses and judgments to other FCC officers for further deliberation. Their analyses were also sent to Spain for their learning partners' feedback.
